Men, go buy your daughter flowers today.

You may not like Valentine’s Day. You may not agree with Valentine’s Day. You may be able to bore an entire dinner party with the origins of this marketing holiday. But be a man. Shut up and go buy your daughter flowers today.

Not because someone tells you to. Not because it is expected of you.  Men, buy your daughters flowers because you want your daughter  to grow up looking for a man that is good enough, smart enough and secure enough to buy her flowers on this trivial day. You want your daughter searching the entire world for the rest of her life for someone as good as her father…but better.

Do not pick flowers from the yard or your daughter will give her love to the first idiot that hands her a seashell on the beach. Eventually that idiot will stop bending over for her.

Do not take her to look at flowers in the park or your daughter will fall for the first idiot that drags her to a museum. Eventually that idiot will stop pointing out her beauty.

Do not send her the most expensive bouquet by mail or your daughter will fall for the first idiot that hands her shiny object. Eventually that idiot will run out of shiny objects to give.

Be a man. Roll up your sleeves and go buy your daughter flowers today.  Drive to the store. Fight the parking lot traffic. Stand in line. Wince at the prices and get out your currency. This too, might make you feel like an idiot. But feeling like an idiot is what strong men do best. And show your daughter that you are a strong man.

Men, go buy your daughter flowers today. They do not have to be the best or the biggest or the prettiest. Your daughter does not know the difference between roses and carnations, or baby breath and tiger lillies.

Men, today it’s the thought that counts.  Today is about your daughter coming home from school unsuspecting and unknowingly walking into her room smelling of flowers. Today is about that moment when she realizing that it’s all about her.

Men, go buy your daughter flowers today….but do not, I repeat do not forget her mother!
